MapleStory Classic World I/L Mage build and leveling guide, Lv 70-120 (CoT2)

I am an I/L Mage. Where do the points go and where do I train?
iWhat I/L Mage build and leveling, Lv 70-120 is
Ice for crowds, lightning for single targets, and the same multiplier the F/P Mage builds around. This page is the climb from 70 to 120: what to stand on in each band and which quests are worth the detour. The I/L Mage page has the other half - every skill, the whole SP order with its levels worked out, and the gear behind it.

CoT2: From Closed Online Test 2 (Beta 2). Not in the Public Release; kept here as a record.I/L Mage is a 3rd job, and the Public Release has no 3rd job. This guide is Closed Online Test 2’s: the class, its skills and the Ossyria maps it trains on are kept here as a record, each marked, and may look different when the job comes back. Where the points go

: INT

INT for damage and for accuracy both, so there is no second stat to balance for the numbers - and one for the weapon. Fourteen of the seventeen wands and staves on the ladder below want LUK as well as INT: every rung above level 15, and one of the two at level 15, climbing to 65 LUK for the best of them at level 70. Spending nothing but INT is a real choice, and what it buys you is the level 15 wand for the rest of the game, so make it on purpose: AP does not come back.

: the order, not the levels
  1. 1.Three points: Element Amplification opens at one, Seal at three.
  2. 2.The multiplier first.
  3. 3.Four monsters, slowed, at double range.
  4. 4.One point, because Element Composition needs it.

The whole order, with the level each step lands at, is on the class page. It is kept in one place so the two cannot disagree.

What to watch
  • Element Amplification makes everything cost half again as much MP. Budget for it.
  • Element Composition needs a point in both Ice Strike and Thunder Spear first.
  • Ice and lightning monsters resist the two things you do. The monster pages carry the resistances; read them before picking a map.

Read off the item rows by the job each row names, so this list gains a type when the game does. Lower speed stages are faster; the attack speed page has what each stage means and what a Booster does to it.

The advancement

Closed Online Test 2 carried this class and every one of its skills, and the site models the advancement at level 70, after the level 30 one in Ellinia. No third-job advancement quest was in the test’s quest rows, and the Public Release has no third job at all, so nothing here tells you where to go for it.
