MapleStory Classic World attack speed and animation times
iWhat Attack speed and animation times is
The short answer
The animations barely differ - every attack in the game lands within a fifth of a second of every other. What separates a claw from a polearm is the weapon’s speed stage, and a Booster hands you its whole two stages with the very first point. Everything after that first point is buying duration.
- 700–820 ms
- every attack animation
- 2 stages
- what a Booster gives at rank 1
- 300s
- what the other 19 ranks buy

| Crossbow shot | shoot2 | 5 | 820 ms | 160 · 160 · 250 · 100 · 150 ms |
These are the character’s own frames at the client’s baseline. Every attack is three or four frames and the whole cast lands between 700 and 820 milliseconds before any weapon stage is applied, which is a much narrower band than the folklore suggests: what separates a claw from a polearm is the stage, not the animation.
What each weapon type's speed stage actually is
lower is faster| Weapon type | Usual stage | Fastest in the game | Slowest | Rows |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1H Axe | Fast (4) | 4 | 5 | 11 |
| 1H Sword | Fast (4) | 3 | 5 | 20 |
| Claw | Fast (4) | 3 | 5 | 31 |
| Dagger | Fast (4) | 3 | 4 | 22 |
| 1H Blunt Weapon | Fast (5) | 2 | 5 | 27 |
| 2H Axe | Fast (5) | 5 | 6 | 10 |
| 2H Sword | Fast (5) | 5 | 6 | 11 |
| Bow | Normal (6) | 5 | 6 | 13 |
| Wand | Normal (6) | 6 | 6 | 11 |
| 2H Blunt Weapon | Slow (7) | 6 | 7 | 10 |
| Crossbow | Slow (7) | 6 | 7 | 10 |
| Spear | Slow (7) | 6 | 7 | 9 |
| Staff | Slow (7) | 7 | 7 | 8 |
| Polearm | Slow (8) | 7 | 8 | 10 |
“Usual” is the stage most weapons of that type carry, not an average: a type whose rows split evenly between two stages would have an average that no weapon in the game actually has. The spread beside it is what the type really contains, and it is often wider than a one-line summary of a weapon class admits.
What a Booster buys
| Skill | Stages at rank 1 | Stages at max | Seconds at rank 1 | Seconds at max | Ranks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Axe Booster | 2 | 2 | 100 | 300 | 20 |
| Blunt Weapon Booster | 2 | 2 | 100 | 300 | 20 |
| Bow Booster | 2 | 2 | 100 | 300 | 20 |
| Claw Booster | 2 | 2 | 100 | 300 | 20 |
| Crossbow Booster | 2 | 2 | 100 | 300 | 20 |
| Dagger Booster | 2 | 2 | 100 | 300 | 20 |
| Polearm Booster | 2 | 2 | 100 | 300 | 20 |
| Spear Booster | 2 | 2 | 100 | 300 | 20 |
| Spell Booster | 1 | 2 | 100 | 300 | 20 |
| Sword Booster | 2 | 2 | 100 | 300 | 20 |
This is the table behind the advice every class guide on this site gives: one point in a Booster early, and the rest later. The speed column does not move between rank 1 and rank 20 for any weapon Booster - the whole of it arrives with the first point - and what the other nineteen ranks buy is the duration column, from 100 seconds to 300. Spell Booster is the one exception, and its two columns differ where the others match.
What is deliberately not here
A single column reading “attacks per second”. It would need the rule that turns a speed stage into a multiplier on the animation above, and that rule is in the client’s code rather than in its data files. Every table on the internet that has that column got it by timing somebody swinging, which is a reasonable thing to do and is not something this site can show its working for. When the extractor can read it, this page grows a column; until then the two halves sit side by side and the join is yours to make.
What the site does model is the damage each of those swings carries, which is on the damage page and in the planner.
