CoT2: From Closed Online Test 2 (Beta 2). Not in the Public Release; kept here as a record. The Public Release has no 3rd job. a Dragon Knight is kept from Closed Online Test 2 with its own skills as the test had them, so a build saved then still loads. Only the skills it keeps from earlier jobs are the live game’s, at the Public Release’s numbers. What the release removed

Dragon Knight, in short

recorded for this site, not from the exportthe exact formulas ›

You stand in the middle of the monsters instead of away from them, and you survive that.

What it brings3

  • Dragon Roar hits eight monsters at quadruple range for 180%, the widest reach any warrior gets.
  • Hyper Body is +30% max HP for five minutes, for you and your whole party.
  • Dragon Fury does 240% to four monsters, and it is the attack you actually train with.

Watch out for3

  • Dragon Roar costs 900 HP a cast at max, and it stuns you for two seconds every time.
  • Dragon Blood is a switch rather than a timed buff: attack power up, HP draining until you switch it off.
  • Roar needs Dragon Blood at 3 before it opens at all, which catches people who planned around Roar and not around Blood.

Where the points go

  • STRmainSTR is your damage on every warrior weapon, and DEX is both what lets you hold it and what makes it land.
  • DEXsecondNot spare points.
  • never comes back, and what catches people is the requirement on the weapon rather than the damage: the Gear tab prices every rung.

Every Dragon Knight skill

CoT2: From Closed Online Test 2 (Beta 2). Not in the Public Release; kept here as a record.
iHow to read a skill card

The line under each name is what the skill does at its last rank, read off the row. max N beside the name holds that against what a single point buys, which is the argument for spending the rest of them.

Anywhere on a card opens it, for every rank, its reach and what it rolls. Words like rank, mastery or booster are underlined wherever they are used and carry their own explanation.

151points earned, level 70–120180ranks the 7 skills hold29ranks you cannot afford

You cannot max everything, and nothing in the game says so. For an order to spend them in, take one somebody has played.

Dragon Knight builds ›
iHow the bill is worked out

One point at the advancement and three a level, until level 120 stops this pool filling. The ranks are every rank the 7 skills hold between them, which is why the two numbers are not the same one counted twice.

Choosing what to leave out is the whole of building this class. The builds page is where somebody else's choice is written down, with the levels they made it at.

Damage3
iWhat "Damage" groups together

The tooltip states a damage or healing number. Mostly these are what you press to kill things; one or two are buffs that add damage rather than deal it, which is why the heading says damage and not attacks.

What the next rungs open

Nothing: a Dragon Knight was the top of this branch in Closed Online Test 2. Level 70 to 120 was the whole of the rest of the ladder, and its skills were the last book you were handed.

Becoming a Dragon Knight

CoT2: From Closed Online Test 2 (Beta 2). Not in the Public Release; kept here as a record. The Public Release has no 3rd job

a Dragon Knight was a Spearman first in Closed Online Test 2, and every one of its skills is in the test’s files. The advancement between the two never was: no quest chain for it anywhere. The walk below is the one this game has had for twenty years, recorded rather than read out of the files, and every place and person it names is a row the test carried (El Nath and the rest of Ossyria are kept from it, marked), so the map beside a step is the test’s map.

What no test can check is the order of it, and nothing here says the live game will add a 3rd job this way, or at all.

  1. 1

    Be a level 70 Spearman.

a Dragon Knight is what a Spearman becomes, so the whole of the route to here runs through that job. Its own advancement - the level 30 chain in Perion - is on its page, drawn step by step.

Level 70 is the series' own number rather than a row in this export. It is the level in the badge at the top of this page, the level the skill point pool starts filling at, and the level every number below is drawn from - and it is the one figure here the snapshot does not vouch for.

  2. 2

Reach El Nath and speak to Tylus.

El Nath is the mountain town above Orbis, reached by the tower rather than on foot, and like the rest of Ossyria it is Closed Online Test 2's: the Public Release does not have it. Tylus is one of four instructors standing in Chief's Residence - the test's rows put all four of them on that one map.

    Talk to Tylus
  3. 3

Go back to Dances with Balrog.

Tylus sends you home to the instructor who gave you your second job. They are where they have always been, and they are the one who sets the test.

  4. 4

Beat your instructor's clone at Ant Tunnel Park.

Through the Sleepywood dungeon, past the Ant Tunnel maps. A Door of Dimension there opens onto a copy of Dances with Balrog; beating it yields the Black Charm. Nothing in the export marks the door, so the map is the row and the door is not.

  5. 5

Trade the Black Charm for the Necklace of Strength.

Dances with Balrog takes the charm and gives the necklace. That is one of the two things Tylus wants back.

  6. 6

Answer five questions at Holy Ground at the Snowfield.

Climb to it from Sharp Cliff II, above El Nath. The snapshot puts exactly one NPC on that map and calls it Holy Stone - not "the Wise Man", which is the name every write-up of this uses. Five questions, and one wrong answer fails the whole attempt.

    Talk to Holy Stone
  7. 7

Bring both necklaces back to Tylus.

The Necklace of Strength from your own instructor and the Necklace of Wisdom from the quiz. That is the advancement.

    Talk to Tylus
  8. 8

    Learn 7 new skills.

This is the half Closed Online Test 2's files are complete on. Every Dragon Knight skill is kept with the test's per-rank numbers, and all 7 of them are on the first tab of this page.

What it costs you

  • A Dark Crystal per attempt. The quiz charges one to sit it, and charges again if you miss a single question. They are bought from Alcaster in El Nath, and his own quest chain has to be finished before he will sell you one. Both he and his chain are Closed Online Test 2 rows; the crystal itself is still an item in the Public Release.
  • The Black Charm. Off the clone. It is not an item row in either build, so nothing here can show you its icon.
  • Both necklaces. One traded from the charm, one won from the quiz. Neither is an item row in either build - they arrive with an advancement the test did not carry and the release does not have.

The Holy Stone’s questions

five in a row, one crystal an attempt

Every question the pool is known to draw from, searchable - because one wrong answer out of five costs the whole attempt and another Dark Crystal. Answers this snapshot can settle are marked; the rest are what players recorded for the older game, and are worth reading as a strong hint rather than a guarantee.

The weapon ladder
iHow the ladder was built

Every weapon the class can hold, with everything that is not an upgrade removed: a rung is a weapon that beats anything you could already be carrying at its level, so “gain” is what it adds over the rung above it. Sidegrades and later weaker weapons are left out and the item browser still has them. The ladder starts from level 1 on purpose - the rungs below your level are the ones you arrived holding.

Best armour for STR, by slot
iHow these were picked

The highest STR in each slot a Warrior can wear, then attack, then defence.

Nothing is left out for being low level, because armour does not stop being wearable: the best piece in several of these slots wants half the level of the worst, and the level on each row is when you can put it on.

Where the game ships one piece as a male and a female version, both are named and the numbers are the same either way.

9 slots
