A recipe charges a bench fee and pays crafting EXP. Divide one by the other and three hundred and forty-eight rows become one ordered list, with the recipes that make money rather than costing it marked separately - because the fastest way to level a discipline and the cheapest way are not the same recipe.

The short answer
Levelling a discipline and making money out of it are two different recipe lists, and the page ranks on both. The rate stays roughly flat as you climb - EXP and fees grow together - so a craft level gets more expensive per craft and no less efficient per meso.

The rate here is the whole discipline’s EXP over its whole fee bill, not an average of its recipes: a discipline with one wildly efficient row and forty poor ones should not read as efficient. Smithing is the best of the six on that measure and Arcforge the worst, by roughly a factor of five.

“Net” is what an NPC pays for the output less the bench fee, and it counts the ingredients at nothing. That is deliberate and it flatters every row equally: most ingredients are monster drops with no purchase price at all, so pricing them at zero is the only consistent choice - and it means a positive net is a floor rather than a promise.

The crafting page has every recipe in full, by discipline and output; the crafting ladder is what opens at each level; and the keep list says which of the ingredients above you should stop selling.
