Before you start

Classic MapleStory has hundreds of quests.

You do not need to complete every one.

Some quests give a few potions or mediocre equipment. Others reward items that historically became important parts of the MapleStory economy:

  • Sauna Robes
  • Icarus Capes
  • Gloves Attack / Magic Attack Scrolls
  • Weapon Attack Scrolls
  • Cape stat scrolls
  • crafting catalysts
  • useful scrolling bases

This guide focuses only on quests where the reward is worth considering for your character or the player market.

Important: This guide uses the current COT2/Beta 2 MapleStory Classic World client snapshot. The game has not launched yet and quest rewards can still change. Orbis, El Nath and 3rd Job are intentionally excluded because Nexon confirmed they will not be part of the initial October launch.

Do these:

These have the strongest combination of useful rewards, historical demand and launch-economy potential.

Understanding the New Scroll Names

Classic World uses new names for the familiar scroll tiers.

For current equipment scrolls:

Classic WorldSuccessExample
Greater10%Overall DEX +3
Intermediate60%Overall DEX +2
Lesser100%Overall DEX +1
Chaos10%Stronger result, destruction risk

The current Sauna Robe page confirms the 10% / 60% / 100% structure across its STR, DEX, INT and LUK scrolls.

So when this guide says:

Weapon ATT Scroll: Greater

think:

old-style 10% weapon scroll.

Camila's Gem

Reward

You have roughly:

  • 30% chance: Pig Illustrated
  • 70%: 30 Cakes

The current Classic item database records Pig Illustrated as the 30% quest reward.

Why Pig Illustrated is interesting

Historically, Pig Illustrated is a strange but memorable Lv.25 all-class weapon.

Older versions had:

  • very fast attack speed
  • Accuracy
  • 7 upgrade slots
  • no job requirement

It was also specifically associated with Camila's quest in old MapleStory.

Value prediction

Early launch: Medium Collector/nostalgia value: High Long-term combat value: Low–Medium

Do the quest because it is easy.

Don't expect Pig Illustrated to fund your entire character.

Crafting Mastery Quests

These are different from ordinary quests.

When your profession reaches Crafting Lv.5, each discipline receives a special quest.

Rewards include:

  • Armor Crafting Catalyst
  • One-Handed Weapon Crafting Catalyst
  • Two-Handed Weapon Crafting Catalyst
  • Scroll Crafting Catalyst

The Arcforge catalyst can be used when crafting scrolls to create stronger results, while equipment catalysts alter crafted equipment stats.

Value

For a crafter:

★★★★★★

For someone ignoring crafting:

★☆☆☆☆

These are effectively mandatory profession progression quests.

Do not forget them when your crafting skill reaches Lv.5.

Returned Secret Book

★★★★★★ MUST DO

This is the end of Mr. Wetbottom's Secret Book quest chain.

You receive:

Male

Blue Sauna Robe

Female

Red Sauna Robe

The current quest guarantees the appropriate Sauna Robe after completing the nine-part chain.

Why Sauna Robe is so valuable

The current Classic World Sauna Robe has:

  • Lv.30 requirement
  • +1 STR
  • +1 DEX
  • +1 INT
  • +1 LUK
  • +10 HP
  • +10 MP
  • 10 upgrade slots

and can accept STR, DEX, INT, LUK and DEF overall scrolls.

That last number matters most:

10 slots

A normal piece being replaced every few levels isn't necessarily worth aggressively scrolling.

A flexible all-job overall with 10 slots is a completely different story.

Historical importance

Sauna Robes were one of the most famous stat-scrolling bases in old MapleStory/private classic servers.

Classic server quest guides routinely list Mr. Wetbottom's quest specifically because of the Sauna Robe reward.

Expected Classic World market

Very High

Especially for players attempting:

  • DEX Sauna Robes
  • INT Sauna Robes
  • LUK Sauna Robes
  • STR Sauna Robes

Recommendation

Do this on every character.

Even if you don't use the robe immediately:

do not NPC it.

Level 36

Collecting 200 Cursed Dolls

This is the final Rowen / Zombie Lupin quest.

You must collect:

200 Cursed Dolls

and defeat Zombie Lupins.

Guaranteed class reward

Depending on your class:

  • Beginner → Old Wisconsin
  • Warrior → Steel Nordic Helm
  • Magician → Dark Guiltian
  • Bowman → Dark Distinction
  • Thief → Dark Pilfer

The current quest awards the class-specific helmet directly.

Example

Dark Pilfer currently gives Thieves a Lv.40 hat with:

+4 LUK and 7 upgrade slots.

Dark Distinction gives Bowman:

+2 STR / +2 DEX with 7 slots.

Value

Self-use: High Market: Medium

This isn't as powerful economically as getting an Attack scroll, but obtaining guaranteed useful Lv.40 equipment during the launch progression wave can save significant money.

Recommendation

Do it if you're already training at Zombie Lupins.

Combine the quest with your farming route instead of separately grinding 200 dolls later.

Last Material Delivery for Building a New House

Ronnie asks you to hunt:

  • 50 Cold Eyes
  • 50 Drakes

and collect:

  • 30 Cold Eye Tails
  • 10 Dragon Skins
  • 1 Diamond

Reward

50/50 between:

Shoes Speed Scroll: Intermediate

60%

or

Shoes Speed Scroll: Greater

10%

Value

★★★★☆

Movement speed is particularly useful in old-school MapleStory because many classes don't have modern mobility.

Recommendation

Worth doing, especially if you are already farming Drakes.

But:

don't overpay for a Diamond just to rush the quest.

Level 42

Nothing under this heading yet.

Pia's Gift

★★★★★ High Value

This is the final reward in Pia's quest chain.

Two quests earlier in the chain carry the input cost, and it is worth reading both before you start.

Pia's Present For a Friend wants:

  • 15 Silver Ingots
  • 30 Dragon Skins
  • 30 Screws

What Pia Borrowed then wants:

  • 30 Medicine With Weird Vibes
  • 1 Ancient Scroll
  • 1 Black Crystal

That second set is the one people forget. A Black Crystal is an Arcforge conversion off Black Crystal Ore, and 30 Medicine With Weird Vibes is a Wraith farm in its own right.

Reward

Random 25% chance of:

  • Cape STR Scroll: Greater
  • Cape DEX Scroll: Greater
  • Cape INT Scroll: Greater
  • Cape LUK Scroll: Greater

These are the 10% stat cape scrolls.

Which result could be most valuable?

Historically, the answer has depended heavily on server population.

On one mature MapleLegends economy snapshot, for example, Cape INT 60% traded far above STR/LUK equivalents. That is not a Classic World price prediction, but it demonstrates how dramatically stat demand can diverge between scroll types.

Classic World's COT2 population was:

  • Magician: 32%
  • Thief: 30%
  • Warrior: 24%
  • Bowman: 14%

If launch looks similar:

INT and LUK-related equipment may have particularly strong demand.

But there is no guarantee.

Profit warning

Do not calculate:

Scroll sale price = profit

You consumed:

  • 15 Silver Ingots
  • 30 Dragon Skins
  • 30 Screws
  • 30 Medicine With Weird Vibes
  • 1 Ancient Scroll
  • 1 Black Crystal

Calculate:

scroll value − material market value

before buying all the materials.

If you farmed the materials yourself, they still have market value.

Level 44

Jane's Final Challenge

★★★★★★ ONE OF THE BEST QUESTS AT LAUNCH

Requirements include:

  • kill 100 Dark Axe Stumps
  • kill 50 Drakes
  • Moon Rock ×1
  • Dragon Skin ×20
  • Sap of Ancient Tree ×10

Reward

Equal 25% chances:

  • Gloves Attack Scroll: Intermediate
  • Gloves Attack Scroll: Greater
  • Gloves Magic Attack Scroll: Intermediate
  • Gloves Magic Attack Scroll: Greater

That means every reward is offensive.

There is no:

“Congratulations, here's a DEF scroll.”

Why this is extremely good

Gloves are one of the few gear slots where you can directly add:

Weapon Attack

or

Magic Attack

The Greater Magic Attack version, for example, currently has:

10% success +6 Magic Attack safe failure

Historical context

Old GMS Jane's Final Challenge was already famous because it rewarded either:

Gloves ATT 60% or Gloves ATT 10%.

The Classic World version is arguably even more broadly useful because the current reward pool includes Magic Attack variants as well.

Value prediction

Gloves Attack: ★★★★★★ Gloves Magic Attack: ★★★★★★

Mage was the most-created COT2 branch at 32%, so Magic Attack should not be treated as the bad roll.

Recommendation

Do this quest on every character capable of completing it.

Level 45

Nothing under this heading yet.

John's Deep Forest of Patience

This is the famous jump-quest chain.

It has three useful stages.

John's Pink Flower Basket

Collect:

10 Pink Viola

Reward:

30 Screws

Because Screws are used heavily throughout crafting, this is much more interesting in Classic World than receiving 30 ordinary ETC items.

John's Present

Collect:

20 Blue Viola

Reward depends on your class:

  • Beginner → Work Gloves
  • Warrior → Dark Knuckle
  • Magician → Dark Arten
  • Bowman → Dark Brace
  • Thief → Dark Cleave

These provide usable glove bases without buying or crafting them.

John's Last Present

Collect:

30 White Viola

Reward:

Pansy Earrings

Is the chain worth doing?

If you're good at jump quests:

Yes.

If one jump quest takes you 90 minutes:

probably not purely for mesos.

Value

30 Screws: ★★★★ Class gloves: ★★★ Pansy Earrings: ★★★

The real cost here is your time.

Level 46

Nothing under this heading yet.

Delivering the Flying Medicine

★★★★★★ MUST DO

This is the end of the Icarus quest chain.

Reward:

one random Icarus Cape.

Green Icarus Cape

DEX +2

Yellow Icarus Cape

Speed +2

Blue Icarus Cape

INT +2

All three also received defence improvements between COT1 and COT2.

Why Icarus Cape matters

Icarus Cape is one of the most recognizable quest rewards from old MapleStory.

Old-school players still specifically remember doing the quest because almost everyone used one.

The famous historical speed variant could provide +10 Speed on older servers.

Classic World's version is different, but the concept remains valuable:

an all-class cape with a useful built-in stat before you even scroll it.

Which current cape should be worth the most?

Yellow / Speed

Probably strongest general-purpose demand.

Every class benefits from movement.

Blue / INT

Potentially strong Mage demand.

Mage represented 32% of COT2 characters.

Green / DEX

Useful to Bowmen and potentially characters solving secondary-stat or accuracy requirements.

Prediction

All three should be worth keeping at launch.

Do not NPC the cape because you didn't roll your preferred color.

Level 46 Quest to Avoid for Profit

Nothing under this heading yet.

Luke the Security Guy's Wish to Travel

This one looks important because it requires expensive materials:

  • Black Feather
  • 10 Orihalcon Ingots
  • 20 Screws
  • 30 Drake Skulls
  • 20 Dragon Skins

Your reward is:

Bronze Crusader Helm

Profit verdict

★☆☆☆☆

Unless:

  • you're a Warrior
  • specifically want the helmet
  • or want quest completion

I would not buy all these materials just for the reward.

Those materials may be worth considerably more sold to crafters.

Level 48

Nothing under this heading yet.

Building a New House for Blackbull

★★★★★★ MUST DO

Requirements:

  • 100 Stone Golem Rubble
  • 30 Screws
  • 30 Processed Wood
  • Blackbull's Deed

Then you get to choose a Greater weapon scroll appropriate for your class.

Warrior choices

Examples:

  • 1H Sword ATT
  • 2H Sword ATT
  • Spear ATT
  • Polearm ATT
  • Axe ATT
  • Blunt Weapon ATT

Magician

  • Wand Magic Attack
  • Staff Magic Attack

Bowman

  • Bow Attack
  • Crossbow Attack

Thief

  • Dagger Attack
  • Claw Attack

These are Greater / 10% scrolls.

Historically, this exact Blackbull quest was already considered a valuable old-school quest because it awarded a chosen 10% weapon scroll.

Best choice if selling

Check the market before turning in the quest.

Do not automatically choose what your own character uses if your intention is profit.

However, the choices are restricted by class.

Likely high-demand candidates

If COT2 class popularity carries into launch:

Thief: Claw ATT Mage: Wand / Staff Magic ATT Warrior: 2H Sword / Spear / Polearm Bowman: Bow ATT

Thief and Magician together represented 62% of COT2 characters.

Actual prices will still depend on weapon metas and scroll supply.

Level 48

Nothing under this heading yet.

Taking Out the Alligators 1

★★★★★★ Possibly the Best Reward-to-Effort Quest

Requirements include:

  • kill 40 Jr. Necki
  • kill 100 Ligators
  • collect 20 Jr. Necki Skins

Then you choose a Greater weapon scroll for your class, similar to Blackbull.

That's another guaranteed:

10% offensive weapon scroll

without needing Blackbull's large pile of processed materials.

Recommendation

Definitely do this quest.

For pure reward-to-material-cost ratio, it may be better than Blackbull.

Taking Out the Alligators 2

The follow-up requires:

  • kill 120 Crocos
  • collect 50 Croco Skins

Then you choose one:

  • Cape STR Scroll: Intermediate
  • Cape DEX Scroll: Intermediate
  • Cape INT Scroll: Intermediate
  • Cape LUK Scroll: Intermediate

These are 60% stat cape scrolls.

Why choosing matters

Unlike Pia's random reward:

you decide which stat you receive.

That means you should check the Free Market first.

If:

Cape INT = 400k Cape DEX = 150k Cape STR = 100k Cape LUK = 250k

then obviously choose INT if your goal is profit.

Don't blindly select your character's main stat.

Value

★★★★★

One of the safest market-oriented quest rewards because you control the result.

Level 50

Nothing under this heading yet.

Hero's Gladius

The final quest lets you choose:

Hero's Gladius

or

Skull Earrings

The problem is the quest chain requires valuable materials including:

  • Star Rock
  • Piece of Ice
  • Ancient Scroll
  • Flaming Feather

Verdict

★★★☆☆

Very iconic.

Potentially good for:

  • self-use
  • collectors
  • quest completion
  • nostalgia

But probably not one of the strongest profit quests once you account for the materials consumed.

Other Quests Worth Knowing

Sabitrama and the Diet Medicine - Lv.25

The Forest of Patience reward is randomly:

  • Overall DEF Intermediate
  • Overall DEF Greater

Verdict

★★☆☆☆

Historically, defensive scrolls tend to have much less market demand than offensive/stat scrolls.

Do it for EXP/questing or because you enjoy jump quests.

Don't expect a jackpot.

Arwen and the Glass Shoe - Lv.29

Repeatable.

Turn in Arwen's Glass Shoe and receive either:

  • Piece of Ice
  • Fairy Wing

50/50.

Why it's interesting

Because it is repeatable, this can function as a material conversion quest rather than a one-time reward.

If Glass Shoes become inexpensive while Piece of Ice/Fairy Wing are needed by high-value recipes or quests:

there may be an arbitrage opportunity.

Verdict

★★★☆☆ normally ★★★★★ if the market makes the conversion profitable

Best Quest Route for a New Character

If you want maximum useful rewards without becoming a full-time quester, follow this route:

Lv.24

Camila's Gem

Quick Pig Illustrated lottery.

Lv.25

Do your Crafting Lv.5 quest if applicable.

Lv.32

MUST DO

Mr. Wetbottom's Secret Book → Returned Secret Book

Get Sauna Robe.

Lv.36

Do Cursed Dolls while training at Zombie Lupins.

Lv.41

Complete Ronnie's material chain while farming Drakes.

Lv.42

Start Pia's Gift, but calculate material cost first.

Lv.44

MUST DO

Jane's Final Challenge

Get offensive glove scroll.

Lv.45

Do John's quests if you're comfortable with jump quests.

Lv.46

MUST DO

Icarus chain

Get Icarus Cape.

Lv.48

MUST DO BOTH

Building a New House for Blackbull

and

Taking Out the Alligators 1

Then:

Taking Out the Alligators 2

for your selected cape stat scroll.

What Should You Sell vs Use?

Sauna Robe

Keep if:

You plan to scroll STR / DEX / INT / LUK.

Sell if:

Clean Robe demand becomes high and you need capital.

Don't NPC it.

Icarus Cape

Keep:

if the rolled stat benefits your character.

Sell:

if another color is commanding a premium.

Don't reroll mentally and call the “wrong” color worthless.

Gloves ATT / Magic ATT Scroll

If you're poor:

selling may be better than gambling it.

A successful 10% scroll is exciting.

A failed 10% scroll is worth:

0 mesos.

Selling the scroll converts risk into guaranteed capital.

Weapon Scrolls

Use one if:

  • you already have a good weapon worth scrolling
  • replacing the weapon soon is unlikely

Otherwise:

sell the scroll.

Do not put a valuable 10% Attack scroll onto a temporary Lv.30 weapon simply because you received it for free.

The Most Important Economic Rule

A quest reward is not free.

If Pia asks for materials worth 300,000 mesos and gives you a scroll worth 200,000:

you lost value even though you never handed an NPC 300,000 mesos.

Always calculate:

Quest profit

Reward market value − materials consumed − travel/time opportunity cost

This becomes especially important for:

  • Pia's Gift
  • Jane's Final Challenge
  • Blackbull's House
  • Hero's Gladius

Historical Value vs Classic World Value

Do not blindly copy old GMS price guides.

Old server history is useful for predicting what types of items players consistently value, not their exact prices.

Historically strong categories include:

Highest demand

  • Gloves Attack
  • Gloves Magic Attack
  • weapon Attack / Magic Attack
  • stat scrolling bases
  • universally wearable equipment

Usually strong

  • INT / DEX / LUK / STR scrolls
  • movement equipment
  • rare all-class equipment

Usually weaker

  • pure DEF
  • Magic DEF
  • temporary leveling equipment

A historical MapleLegends price sheet, for example, shows huge differences between offensive/stat scroll categories while many DEF scrolls were barely valuable.

That basic economic behavior is more useful than importing the exact old meso prices.

Predicted Top 5 Quest Rewards at Classic World Launch

🥇 Sauna Robe

Returned Secret Book

10 slots + all-job usability + stat scrolling.

Potentially one of the most important quest equipment rewards in the entire launch version.

🥈 Gloves ATT / Magic ATT Scroll

Jane's Final Challenge

Every outcome improves damage.

Very liquid.

🥉 Icarus Cape

Delivering the Flying Medicine

Useful base stats, iconic item and all-class demand.

4. Chosen Weapon Greater Scroll

Taking Out the Alligators 1

Excellent because you choose the scroll rather than gamble.

5. Chosen Weapon Greater Scroll

Building a New House for Blackbull

Same premium reward, but substantially more expensive material requirements.

Final Recommendation

Don't level through Classic World by ignoring every quest.

But also don't spend hours doing every quest marker you see.

Prioritize quests that provide:

scrolling bases → offensive scrolls → chosen stat scrolls → crafting catalysts → equipment you were going to buy anyway

and combine collection quests with your normal training maps whenever possible.

The best quest is one where:

you gain EXP while farming something you already needed, then receive an item you would otherwise have paid another player to buy.
