Classic World launches 21 October, and Orbis, El Nath and 3rd job are not in it
Nexon closed the second Classic World test with an infographic of what players did in it and a letter from Inkwell about what happens next. The letter is the part that matters: there are dates now, and there is a list of what will not be there on the day.
Global MapleStory Classic World has a release schedule. The Ossyria Exploration Report, published 21 August 2026, ends the second Closed Online Test with a recap of what the test produced and a letter from Hanbyeol Oh, Chief Product Officer for Global MapleStory, who signs as Inkwell. The letter names three dates and, more usefully, names what is being left out of them.
The headline is that there is no third test. Nexon says it will finish reviewing the Closed Online Test 2 feedback, make the changes it thinks are needed, and go straight into live service. That makes the snapshot this site is built on the last one before launch.
The dates
- Step 1live2 Sept
Founder’s Package on sale
Three tiers of commemorative cosmetics drawn from MapleStory’s early years, the upper two carrying entry to Founder’s Access.
- Step 2live6 Oct
Founder’s Access
The first step into live service, for Founders only. Characters and progression made here carry over into Grand Launch.
- Step 3in 13 days21 Oct
Grand Launch
Open to everyone, Founder’s Package or not, with content Nexon says has not been shown before.
Founder’s Access, on 6 October, is live service rather than another test: characters and progression made in it carry over into Grand Launch. From 21 October anyone can play, with or without a Founder’s Package. The package itself goes on sale on 2 September, ahead of both, and Nexon has said it will centre on commemorative cosmetics drawn from MapleStory’s early years, with the detail to follow on the official site.
What will not be there on day one
This is the part that changes how you should read a lot of pages on this site. Three of the biggest things the second test added are being held back, and Nexon is explicit that it is not simply re-shipping what testers saw.

Orbis and El Nath
Ossyria opened four days into the second test and will not be in the launch build. Nexon is reworking the content structure and the progression flow around it, and says it arrives gradually later. The Public Release client bears it out: not one of Ossyria’s 92 maps is in it.

Maple Island and Victoria Island
The starting regions and the four first-job towns, tested twice over. Nothing in the announcement holds any of it back.
3rd Job Advancement
Available at level 70 during the second test, and held back from launch for the same rework. Founder’s Access caps characters at level 100, its release notes say, with 2nd job the last advancement, and the Public Release client has none of the 70 3rd job skills.

Citizenship
Classic World’s own system, and one of the things the second test was run to try out. Henesys and Kerning City both had thousands of citizens by the end of it.
Crafting
Introduced before Citizenship and tested through both closed tests. Six disciplines and 348 recipes in the current snapshot.
Mark of the Beta
Not a Founder reward after all: everyone who joins in the early days can earn it from an in-game quest, which Nexon says is scheduled to end in November. The Founder’s Access notes put the event’s start at Grand Launch, on 21 October. The Public Release client already has the hat and the seven quests that lead to it.
In particular, Orbis, El Nath, and 3rd Job Advancement will not be part of the initial launch content. We have been listening closely to the feedback and concerns you shared about this content during Closed Online Test #2, and we are taking a broader look at how these areas should be reworked, including the content structure and overall progression flow.
Read against the second test’s own release notes, that is a lot of content: the airship from Ellinia Station opened on 8 August for characters level 10 and up, 3rd Job Advancement sat at level 70, and El Nath is where the instructors who granted it stood. Nexon says the content returns gradually, at a pace that suits live service, and that Grand Launch will also carry content that has not been shown at all yet.
The one thing that moved the other way is Mark of the Beta. It had been widely assumed to be a Founder reward; the letter says everyone who joins in Classic World’s early days can earn it, through an in-game quest scheduled to end in November.
What Nexon committed to beyond the content list
- The Cash Shop is meant to stay cosmetic. Nexon says it intends to avoid selling anything that directly boosts EXP gain or makes a character stronger, and to focus on cosmetics and convenience.
- Region expansion will be slow on purpose. The letter calls it the “beauty of taking it slow” and says content will arrive at a measured pace rather than retracing MapleStory’s original path at its original speed.
- The old stories continue rather than repeat. It asks what happened next to Manji and the Hero’s Gladius, and what Henesys’s Chief Stan and Kerning City’s Dark Lord have been keeping to themselves, and says former early-era developers are involved in answering.
- The second test was aimed at four things in particular: the improvements made from Closed Online Test 1 feedback, broader macOS and controller testing after smaller closed trials, the locale system behind the Spanish localisation, and Classic World originals such as Citizenship following the earlier introduction of Crafting.
Closed Online Test 2, by Nexon’s count

Every figure above is Nexon’s, transcribed from the infographic in the Ossyria Exploration Report, rounded the way the report rounds it. None of it is derived from the datamine, and nothing here is this site’s own count.
What this means for the data on this site
Every number on MapleStory Quest is read out of the Closed Online Test 2 client, and that does not change: it is still the most recent build there is, and it is now the last one before launch. What changes is that part of it describes content the launch build will not have. The Ossyria maps, the monsters that spawn only there, and the 3rd job skill tables are all still accurate about the test client and are all now provisional about the game people will play in October.
Rather than delete any of it, the pages that lean on it say what they are. When Nexon publishes launch notes, the changelog is where the difference between this snapshot and that build will be shown, field by field, the same way the Closed Online Test 1 to Closed Online Test 2 diff already is.
Update, 7 October 2026
The Public Release datamine is out, and this site now reads it. It has none of Ossyria’s 92 maps and no 3rd job: the ten classes and their 70 skills are gone from it, which is the client agreeing with this letter. Forgotten Hollow, which the letter does not mention, is gone too, all but one nameless map of it. None of those pages was deleted. Each stays, marked CoT2, because what it says is still true of the second test, and the changelog now opens on Closed Online Test 2 against the Public Release, field by field, as promised above.
